Description
The New York State Office of Mental Health is offering up to $8 million to establish at least four health-led community behavioral health crisis response pilot programs, including at least one rural pilot. Eligible applicants include qualifying nonprofit agencies, county-run entities, and municipal New York State entities with community behavioral health experience. Applicants may propose either an Alternative Response Pilot or a Behavioral Health Provider Mobile Crisis Pilot and may serve one or more eligible counties. Awards are capped at $2 million per applicant, and contracts will have a three-year term. Programs must provide or develop immediate, coordinated, health-led crisis responses across the lifespan, with trained behavioral health professionals, certified or credentialed peer support staff, crisis triage, in-community response, follow-up, care coordination, crisis and safety planning, and 24/7 coverage. Applicants must collaborate with local governmental units, 911 and 988 systems, emergency responders, community providers, law enforcement, and individuals and families with lived experience. Proposals must address implementation, staffing, training, data collection, quality improvement, diversity and equity, recipient input, sustainability, and a three-year operating budget. Applications must be submitted through the Statewide Financial System using the required proposal template and budget materials.
