The Maine Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Behavioral Health, requires outpatient substance use disorder services for youth up to age 21 who are uninsured or underinsured and have a substance use disorder diagnosis. The services are intended to provide treatment at an appropriate stage and help prevent worsening conditions and the need for more intensive treatment.
