Description
The Quinault Indian Nation is seeking a contract gardener to assist the Garden Coordinator with cultivation, maintenance, planting, harvesting, and distribution of fresh produce for the Taholah gardens. The work includes gardening education through hands-on workshops, produce handout services and kitchen cleanup, and performance of heavy physical labor in inclement weather. The contractor may work up to 32 hours per week, with flexible hours and some weekends, from November 2, 2026, through September 29, 2027. Proposals must demonstrate knowledge of plant life cycles, integrated pest management, and organic and sustainable gardening practices, along with the capability and availability to complete the work. Responses must include the contractor's business and contact information, qualifications and experience, similar projects and completion dates, tribal experience, and a proposed work plan and schedule. Evaluation considers project understanding and work plan, qualifications and experience, past performance and references, and service pricing. A Washington State Food Worker card and general liability insurance are required; Indian-owned firms receive preference under the Nation's Indian Preference Policy, and Indian Contractors must provide Tribal Employment Rights Office certification to be eligible for that preference.
