Description
The City of Worcester is soliciting a lump-sum contractor to repair masonry walls around the pond at Elm Park. The base work includes removing loose granite capstones, cleaning the stones and existing mortar beds, and resetting the stones in new mortar. The contractor must provide all labor, materials, equipment, access, barriers, public-safety protections, debris removal, and coordination required for the work. Additional unstable stones may be added on a unit-price basis with the Owner’s approval. The specifications also require a 100% visual assessment of the pond perimeter capstones, documentation of dimensional instability and hazards, an assessment work plan, and a final digital assessment report with repair recommendations. Work must protect the pond from debris and chemicals and accommodate continued public use of the park. Massachusetts prevailing-wage requirements apply, and on-site workers must have OSHA-approved 10-hour construction safety training. A payment bond equal to 50% of the total award is required if the bid exceeds $25,000; performance bonding is marked not applicable.
