Description
Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility is seeking a contractor to perform finite element stress analysis of the Spallation Neutron Source subatmospheric cold box vacuum vessel and interpret the results to demonstrate compliance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 2, Part 5. The work includes analyzing vessel geometry, materials, pressure and temperature conditions, dead loads, nozzle loads, seismic loads, fall-arrest loads, and thermal piping loads using the preliminary fabrication drawings as the authoritative source. The contractor must provide an engineering report documenting assumptions, analytical methods, finite element modeling approaches, load cases, stress evaluations, compliance or non-compliance findings, and any minor corrective adjustments needed to achieve code compliance. Relevant experience with pressure or vacuum vessels having multiple externally loaded nozzles is required, along with at least three comparable-work references and evidence of suitable facilities, software, equipment, personnel, and analysis capabilities. An initial report is due within six weeks after award, with revisions due within two weeks of receiving modified designs; review meetings will occur upon submission of the initial report and any revisions. The procurement is a firm-fixed-price subcontract evaluated using a best-value trade-off process.
