Description
The City of Urbana is soliciting a contractor to demolish and dispose of an approximately 10,000-square-foot former fire station, including complete removal of foundations, footings, basement slabs, and other below-grade structures. The site must be restored as a mixed-use lot with asphalt and grass, including placement of six inches of uncontaminated loamy topsoil suitable for seeding. The work involves asbestos-related requirements. The identified asbestos-containing vinyl floor tile and mastic may remain in place if handled under the specified demolition procedures, while friable and Category II non-friable asbestos-containing materials must be removed before demolition by appropriately licensed and qualified personnel. The contractor is responsible for required demolition, erosion-control, right-of-way, utility, and related permits, traffic control, regulated-material disposal, and compliance with applicable safety and environmental requirements. The solicitation also requires a traffic-control plan, a five-percent proposal security, and a 100-percent performance bond after award.
