Middle Tennessee State University is soliciting a sealed bid for resurfacing and retiling the indoor pool at its Recreation Center. The work includes protecting adjacent areas and the gutter system; removing and disposing of existing plaster and debris; repairing cracks and other vulnerable areas; cleaning and acid-washing the gunite substrate; applying CL Industries Permakote bonding agent and Underwater Magic sealant; and installing a Blue Quartz Diamond Brite plaster finish at approximately one-half inch thick. Addendum 2 confirms that the existing pool has two plaster layers to remove and that the specified Diamond Brite product and black 2-inch-by-2-inch tile must be used; alternative plaster and blue tile will not be accepted. The scope also includes replacing five underwater lights with LED fixtures, deep-end hydrostatic relief valves and drain covers, the shallow-end stainless-steel grate hardware, seven stainless-steel handrail post escutcheons, gutter decals, and race-lane, ramp, and step tile. Stainless-steel components must be cleaned, polished, or sealed with aquatics-grade products. The contractor must have an applicable Tennessee contractor's license, at least five years of commercial pool-resurfacing experience, three comparable project references, bonding and insurance, a one-year workmanship warranty, and a five-year product and materials warranty. The project is anticipated to take approximately 30 days, with an estimated start date of December 7, 2026, subject to coordination with the university.
