Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is soliciting bids for removal and legal disposal of approximately 1,060 feet of existing perimeter chain-link fencing and furnishing and installation of approximately 1,060 feet of new seven-foot-tall wrought iron fencing. The new fencing must be installed along the existing fence line, use tamper-resistant hardware, have pickets no more than four inches apart, and be black, either painted with a durable exterior semi-gloss latex topcoat or powder-coated. The contractor must also provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, permits, travel, incidentals, site cleanup, and debris disposal. The work is a public works project requiring a current California C-13 Fencing Contractor license and Department of Industrial Relations registration. A three percent Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise participation requirement applies, and the solicitation includes small-business preference provisions. The bid proposal may not exceed $484,000. The agreement is estimated to run from December 1, 2026, through November 30, 2027, with work to be completed within 90 business days after commencement. A payment bond is required before work begins if the contract price exceeds $25,000, and the awarded contractor must provide specified insurance and other post-award documents.
