Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), through the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), is issuing a Sources Sought Notice to identify small businesses capable of managing the NIH Brain Development Cohorts (NBDC) Biobank. This biobank will serve as a repository for processing, storing, analyzing, and distributing de-identified biological samples and associated data from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study and the HEALthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) Study. Capable small businesses must demonstrate extensive experience in managing large biobanks, including the ability to safely process, store, and track between 500,000 to 700,000 biospecimen samples of various types. This includes providing collection kits, maintaining positive chain of custody, resolving data/sample discrepancies, and distributing biosamples to qualified investigators. Technical and informatics requirements include maintaining and updating databases, managing and enhancing the NBDC Biobank portal, and developing APIs for secure data exchange. Laboratory requirements involve expertise in biobanking, LIMS, and database management, with potential for CLIA-certified laboratory capabilities for analyses if requested. Collaboration with study data centers and adherence to governance requirements are also essential.
