Description
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires four Illumina MiSeq i100 Plus desktop genomic sequencing systems and associated DRAGEN Bio-IT Platforms. These systems are intended to replace existing, aging sequencers, ensuring continuity in sequencing methods, reagents, and software licenses. The new systems will support the FDA's Human Foods Program (HFP) by enabling high-throughput, cost-effective, and rapid sequencing for food safety surveillance, regulatory compliance, and the development of novel genomic applications. Key objectives include modernizing sequencing capacity with systems that reduce runtime and cost per sample, supporting method development for advanced sequencing applications, enhancing response capabilities for time-sensitive investigations, improving operational efficiency through on-instrument data processing, and facilitating technology transfer. The acquisition involves the purchase, delivery, installation, system verification, and personnel training for the four systems at designated FDA facilities in College Park, MD; Laurel, MD; Bedford Park, IL; and Dauphin Island, AL. The contract includes a 12-month manufacturer-provided warranty and offers for up to four additional years of preventative maintenance service agreements.
