Description
The City of Akron is soliciting bids for towing, roadside assistance, and related services for its fleet of city-owned vehicles and specialty equipment. The scope includes light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicle towing; emergency vehicles; crane service; jump starts; tire changes; vehicle preparation, winching, and out-of-town towing within a 100-mile radius of Akron. The supplier must provide 24/7 availability, standby equipment, and all requested services, including crane service. Emergency calls involving police and fire equipment require a response within 30 minutes. Suppliers must have underslung hydraulically extended axle-lift equipment suitable for tandem-axle refuse trucks and must provide an equipment list upon request. Pricing must be submitted as flat-rate costs, with specified pricing for vehicle and equipment categories, roadside services, crane service, additional trucks or equipment, out-of-town towing, and specialty equipment towing. The initial service period is January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2027, with up to two additional annual extensions by mutual agreement. The required submission includes the Supplier Submission Page, EEO Form, and completed online bid table. The successful bidder must provide workers' compensation, general liability, and auto liability insurance certificates; these insurance documents are required from the successful bidder rather than at initial submission.
