Description
The City of Lubbock is soliciting a contractor to provide wrecker and towing services for city, abandoned, code-violation, impounded, accident, and police-action vehicles when the vehicle owner does not arrange towing. Services include towing, vehicle storage, impound and notification activities, supplemental towing support, dolly use, and heavy-duty recovery assistance. The contractor must maintain reliable equipment, trained personnel, office space, and storage facilities, and must provide a golf cart for auction operations. Vehicles that become eligible for disposition must be coordinated with the City and Lubbock Police Department for inclusion in the City's monthly auction; the contractor may not conduct a separate auction or disposal process. Proposals are evaluated on cost, equipment and facilities, towing experience, past performance, and management qualifications. The contract is for one year with four one-year extension options, and a $20,000 performance bond is required at contract execution. The solicitation lists service charges for towing, dollies, supplemental charges, impound and notification fees, storage, abandoned vehicles, city vehicles, and heavy-duty assistance.
