This technology licensing opportunity concerns an electrochemical process for recovering tellurium and cadmium from end-of-life and manufacturing-scrap cadmium telluride photovoltaic cells. Unlike conventional acid-leaching methods that rely on externally supplied hydrogen peroxide, the process generates oxidants in situ from oxygen or air, reducing bulk chemical use, hazardous-material logistics, and the environmental footprint of recycling. The process produces tellurium metal and cadmium suitable for reuse in photovoltaic manufacturing and can operate using renewable or other low-carbon electricity.
