Description
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy is offering cost-shared grants for regulatory review activities involving future advanced nuclear reactors and supporting facilities, including fuel fabrication and spent nuclear fuel recycling facilities. Eligible activities include Nuclear Regulatory Commission pre-application reviews, topical reports or white papers, safety review meetings, application readiness assessments, and formal application reviews after an application has been accepted for docketing. The program funds only a portion of NRC licensing fees; it does not fund research and development, design work, licensing-document development, or other applicant costs. Topic Area 1 awards are approximately $5,000 to $200,000 with up to 24-month project periods and a minimum 20% cost share. Topic Area 2 awards are approximately $100,000 to $8,000,000 with up to 48-month project periods and a minimum 50% cost share. Applications must be submitted through FedConnect and include the specified federal assistance forms, technical volume, budget information, location-of-work documentation, regulatory engagement plan, past-performance information, and other applicable supporting materials.
