Description

The City of Schenectady's Department of Engineering is soliciting a formal bid to furnish and install a handicap-accessible fishing pier at Steinmetz Park. The scope includes an approximately 40-foot pier with plastic decking and stainless-steel cable railings, helical pile foundations, concrete foundations and retaining wall work, an asphalt walkway approach, structural wood framing, excavation, structural fill, erosion controls, seeding, site protection, cleanup, and restoration. Addendum 2 confirms that the asphalt approach is part of the contractor's scope, requires helical piles to be 21 feet, replaces the bidding-sheet proposal, and adds a unit-price item for each 7-foot helical extension after 21 feet. It also clarifies that temporary chain-link construction fencing and silt fencing are required during construction and are not permanent improvements. The project requires compliance with New York prevailing-wage requirements, certified payroll, New York Department of Labor contractor registration, OSHA 10 training, insurance, a safety and health plan, traffic and pedestrian protection, material and shop-drawing submittals, and applicable apprenticeship requirements for projects valued at $500,000 or more. A 5% bid bond, certified check, or bank check is required with the bid, along with 100% performance and payment bonds from the successful bidder.
