Description
The City of Portsmouth Public Art Review Committee is seeking an experienced artist or artist team to create an original public artwork for the recently rehabilitated Hanover Street Garage. Proposals may use any artistic medium, with particular interest in interior or exterior murals, sculptures, projection or lighting effects, and work that improves the public image of the downtown parking structure while responding to community interests. The selected artist will be responsible for design, fabrication, transportation, documentation, subcontracting if needed, and installation, including installation insurance. The maximum project budget is $60,000 and must cover all project expenses. The proposal must include artist resumes or CVs, a written concept statement of no more than three pages, a preliminary rendering or representation, an itemized budget, an approximate project timeline, up to five images of recent relevant work, and a list of completed projects with references. The City will provide installation oversight and consultation, while the artist will perform the installation. Finalists may participate in virtual interviews and may be asked to refine or present their proposals.
