Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, is requesting statements of interest from qualified members of the Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Units (CESU) Program in the Alaska, Rocky Mountain, and Pacific Northwest Regions to conduct a study on Cook Inlet Beluga Whale (CIBW) prey and salmon productivity at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), Alaska. The project aims to characterize fish species composition in JBER waters, including Eagle River and Knik Arm, to identify prey available to the endangered CIBW population. The work will involve environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling, laboratory analysis, bioinformatics, and data management to document temporal patterns in prey presence and integrate with regional eDNA monitoring efforts. The base period of performance is 18 months, with up to six optional 18-month follow-on periods. Approximately $167,897 is expected to be available for the base period. Interested parties must submit a statement of interest by the deadline, and if selected, may be required to submit a full proposal within a short turnaround time.
