Description
NASA's Exploration Projects and Integration Office is seeking a qualified small business vendor to develop, synthesize, and produce a batch of Sabatier catalyst. The project involves creating a baseline formulation and exploring alternate formulations with enhanced poison resistance. The vendor will be responsible for providing personnel, facilities, equipment, and training materials necessary to conduct comprehensive academic and hands-on training. This includes determining optimal temperatures and residence times for the catalyst, performing literature searches for alternative formulations, and conducting poisoning tests with specific contaminants. The vendor will also procure and test commercially available methanation catalysts. Key deliverables include a Catalyst Data Package (CDP) and a Test Data Package (TDP) detailing synthesis, formulation, quality assurance, and poisoning test results. The baseline catalyst will be produced using ruthenium chloride and TBDCPN alumina, with a target of 20% ruthenium by weight. Testing parameters, including molar ratios and contaminant concentrations, are specified in the Statement of Work.
