Description
Ben Franklin Transit is commissioning six artists, one for each city in its service area, to develop original artwork for bus wraps. Each application must include a digital portfolio of up to ten original artworks and a concept summary of no more than 500 words describing the artist’s vision, understanding of the selected community’s history and identity, and approach to community engagement. A completed bus-wrap design is not required with the application, and AI-generated artwork is prohibited. Selected artists will collaborate with the agency to develop a primary design and final artwork, participate in community input and design reviews, and incorporate feedback. Each artist may receive only one award. Compensation is capped at $5,000 per artist, including tax. The solicitation contains conflicting provisions on ownership: one states that BFT owns the final artwork and associated rights, while another says the artist retains copyright and grants BFT a broad license.
