The U.S. Department of Energy intends to conduct a full and open competition for management of the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), a DOE Office of Science asset supporting scientific, research, and health initiatives. The anticipated scope includes STEM education and research participation programs, peer and merit review of DOE-funded research, Institutional Review Board and Human Subjects Working Group support, long-term health-outcome information activities, radiation emergency readiness and response through the Radiation Emergency Assistance Center/Training Site, and independent assessment and verification for environmental cleanup. This notice is a special notice of intent rather than an active solicitation. DOE anticipates issuing a pre-solicitation notice after the competition begins, inviting Expressions of Interest and responses to a Request for Information. The current ORISE contract is stated to expire on September 30, 2027.
