ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS THOMAS MICHAEL MENINO CONVENTION & EXHIBITION CENTER MCEC Freight Elevator Modernization (U07) The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (the “Authority”) will receive sealed General bids for the THOMAS MICHAEL MENINO CONVENTION & EXHIBITION CENTER, MCEC Freight Elevator Mod- ernization (U07) at the administrative Offices of the Authority at 415 Summer Street, Boston, Massachusetts 02210, until 12:00 p.m. local time on September 9, 2026, immediately after which, in a designated room, the general bids will be opened and read publicly. Sealed Filed Sub-Bids for the same project for the sub-trades list- ed below will be received at the same office until 12:00 p.m. local time on August 26, 2026, immediately after which, in a designated room, the filed sub-bids will be opened and read publicly. Description
The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority is soliciting sealed general bids for the modernization of freight elevators at the Thomas Michael Menino Convention & Exhibition Center (MCEC). The project involves providing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for a comprehensive modernization of passenger/service elevators EL-B3 and EL-B4, and freight elevator EL-B5. The work includes replacing geared traction machines with units featuring emergency secondary brakes, updating controllers to VVVF microprocessor drives, installing car safeties and overspeed governors, and providing stainless steel frame re-wraps, heavy-duty diamond plate wainscoting, and new doors for EL-B3 and EL-B4. EL-B5 will receive a reinforced steel freight cab, wireless door controller system, and light curtains. The project also includes upgrading the machine room with a new 4.5-ton mini-split cooling system, correcting electrical circuit disconnects, separating life safety loads on ATS #9, and integrating an advanced fire command panel. Filed sub-bids for Elevator, Electrical Work, and HVAC will also be received.
