Description
The City of Tampa is soliciting sealed bids for modernization of the Tampa Convention Center's main electrical distribution system. The base scope includes an initial condition assessment, a pilot main-breaker modernization, modernization of fourteen low-voltage switchboards using new circuit breakers, electronic trip units, digital metering, surge protection, and communications capability, and retention and protection of three 4,160-volt medium-voltage switchgear units subject to field verification. The contractor must perform field verification, correct working-clearance and other electrical deficiencies, provide commissioning, functional testing, infrared baseline scanning, updated coordination and arc-flash studies, labeling, and as-built documentation. The project also includes HVAC conditioning for Electrical Room H and the CEP/Chiller Plant and Generator Room, room sealing and fire-rated separation, firestopping, handrail removal and restoration, rigging and material handling, temporary generator provisions, fire-alarm impairment procedures and fire watch, permits, warranties, and related building improvements. Optional separately priced items include Power Monitoring Expert software and SCADA integration. The published estimate is $16,000,000, and the bid requires a bid security of at least 5 percent of the total bid; the awarded contractor must provide a public construction bond equal to 100 percent of the contract price. The bid package also identifies substantial civil, streetscape, sidewalk, paving, drainage-structure adjustment, signage, and restoration work within the project limits.
