Description
The Port of Port Townsend seeks proposals from farmers, agricultural businesses, nonprofit organizations, educators, conservation partners, community groups, and other qualified parties to use, manage, or partner on one or more portions of Short's Family Farm. Proposals may cover individual areas or a coordinated strategy for a larger portion of the property, and joint proposals are permitted if they identify a lead respondent, participant responsibilities, and the proposed legal and financial relationship. Potential uses include crop or livestock production, shared agricultural infrastructure, storage, processing and distribution, farm incubator or workforce programs, conservation and habitat work, research, education, and compatible public-benefit activities. Respondents should describe their requested areas, proposed use, implementation plan, experience and qualifications, references, and preferred agreement terms. The Port may negotiate a lease, license, operating agreement, partnership, revenue-sharing arrangement, or other instrument; selection for negotiation is not an award or a commitment to execute an agreement. Current tenants receive preference when their proposals are otherwise viable and consistent with the Port's objectives.
