Description
The City of Gastonia is soliciting proposals for the design, permitting, procurement, and turnkey installation of a new commercial-grade, castle-themed playground at Martha Rivers Park. The project must serve children ages 2–5 and 5–12, use the existing approximately 10,395-square-foot footprint, include pedestrian links to surrounding walkways, and provide poured-in-place safety surfacing with concrete edging. Equipment must be age-appropriate, accessible, IPEMA-certified, and compliant with applicable ADA, ASTM, and CPSC standards. Installation must be performed by a factory-trained, insured, and certified installer, followed by a Certified Playground Safety Inspector audit and correction of identified deficiencies within seven days. The proposal must include permitting, design, equipment manufacture and freight, turnkey assembly, footings, safety surfacing, and a separately unbundled price for optional complete site demolition, footing extraction, sorting, and hauling. The City may perform the demolition with in-house staff or award it to the selected vendor. The maximum budget for the core project is $1,000,000, including taxes, while optional demolition is excluded from that projection. Proposals may include up to two designs and will be evaluated primarily on design approach, professional qualifications, previous projects and references, and schedule.
