Description
The Town of Stanley is soliciting unit-price bids for replacement of existing galvanized water mains. The project includes approximately 4,640 linear feet of 2-inch SDR 13.5 PVC water main and 440 linear feet of 6-inch ductile iron water main, horizontal punching beneath surface features, new fire hydrants, gate valves, blow-offs, fittings, appurtenances, 3/4-inch copper water service lines and connections, and abandonment of existing mains and valves. Additional work includes tapping saddles, sleeves and valves; erosion control; select backfill and rock excavation; and restoration of disturbed areas, including seeding, driveways and pavement surfaces. Bidders must be licensed contractors in North Carolina, and subcontractors must also hold North Carolina contractor licenses. Bids are submitted on a unit-price basis. A 5 percent bid security is required, and the successful bidder must furnish construction performance and payment bonds. Bidders must make a good-faith effort to meet a combined 10 percent minority-business participation goal under North Carolina General Statutes § 143-128.2.
