Description
The City of Springfield is soliciting bids for approximately 50 tons of liquid chlorine per year for use at its Water Treatment Plant. The chlorine must be delivered as needed in one-ton steel containers, with freight and delivery included in the unit price. The initial contract period is one year, with two optional one-year renewal periods, and the City does not guarantee a specific purchase quantity. The supplier must provide standard liquid chlorine conforming to AWWA B301-59, with 99.5% purity by volume, and submit a Safety Data Sheet, Technical Data Sheet, and an affidavit stating product purity and suitability. Requirements also include emergency response capability within two hours for uncontrolled chlorine discharges, appropriate repair kits and breathing-air equipment, annual chlorine-safety training for Water Treatment Plant personnel, delivery within three days of an order, and delivery by flatbed truck. A 5% bid bond is required; performance bonds do not apply. The bid must include specified commercial general liability and automobile liability insurance, and a warranty for the materials.
