Description
The South Carolina Forestry Commission is soliciting bids for a timber sale consisting of one unit in Berkeley County within Francis Marion National Forest. The sale includes approximately 7,786 pine tons, with bidders required to submit separate per-unit prices for all pine products and all hardwood products. The buyer is responsible for its own volume estimate, weekly payments, and weekly weight-scale tickets. The successful bidder must complete the harvest within 12 months, maintain U.S. Forest Service roads to their pre-logging condition, comply with specified soil, trail, wildlife, invasive-plant, visual-impact, and logging restrictions, and remove all trees within 100 feet of the weather station. A performance bond of $15,000 is due at contract signing. Before contract execution, the contractor must provide $1,000,000 in commercial general liability insurance naming the U.S. Forest Service and South Carolina Forestry Commission as co-insured, workers' compensation insurance, and required permits. A pre-logging conference and courtesy BMP examination are required, and at least one responsible logging-crew member must hold qualifying timber-operations training.
