Description
The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation and Friends of Southwest Virginia seek qualified fabricators, artists, manufacturers, or design-build vendors to develop final fabrication specifications and produce 30 large-scale, Blue Ridge Parkway-inspired mileposts for outdoor installation in gateway communities along the Parkway in Virginia and North Carolina. The structures will be approximately 6 feet high, three-sided, and about 18 inches wide per side. Proposed materials may include powder-coated metal, fiberglass, aluminum, steel, or other suitable outdoor materials. The mileposts must be weather resistant, durable under long-term outdoor exposure, resistant to corrosion and vandalism, free of sharp edges, and suitable for painting or wrap applications. The selected contractor must recommend anchoring systems, mounting plates or concrete footers, hardware, transportation and delivery methods, installation approaches for local partners, and maintenance procedures. Five mileposts must be fabricated and delivered by January 31, 2027, with the remaining 25 due by July 31, 2027 after review and potential refinement of the initial design. Proposals must include qualifications, relevant project experience, images and specifications of comparable projects before and after artistic treatments, proposed materials and methods, pricing for 30 units and delivery, storage costs or recommendations, and an estimated production timeline. Proposals are limited to 15 pages. The maximum allowable proposal amount is $100,000, and proposals exceeding that amount will not be considered.
