Description
The City of Hampton is seeking a qualified vendor to provide a full-time, on-site master heavy equipment technician for its Fleet Services Division. The technician will supplement the City's fleet garage and perform preventive maintenance and specialized repairs for heavy equipment, with a focus on sewer maintenance equipment. Services include oil and lubrication work, tire rotation, brake, suspension, heating and air-conditioning, electrical, engine, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, troubleshooting, modification, overhaul, and other customary commercial-fleet repairs. The technician must maintain service records in the City's vehicle maintenance system, work under Fleet Services supervision, provide their own tools, and participate in quarterly performance-review meetings. The City will provide all parts and fluids. The proposed technician must have strong heavy-equipment and diesel-engine experience, at least three years of sewer-equipment experience, a Class A commercial driver's license, and a state inspector's license or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of selection. The proposal must address the scope of work, comparable project experience and at least five references, organizational capability and staff qualifications, schedule, pricing, exceptions or alternatives, and minority/woman-owned business participation. The contract is for one year with up to four additional one-year renewal periods. The solicitation requires sealed submission to the Issuing Office or electronic submission through DemandStar and includes extensive insurance requirements, including commercial general liability, garagekeepers, automobile liability, umbrella or excess liability, and workers' compensation/employer's liability where applicable.
