Description
The City of Royal Oak is soliciting qualifications from consulting firms to prepare its first Comprehensive Safety Action Plan under the U.S. Department of Transportation Safe System Approach. The plan will identify and prioritize roadway strategies and projects to calm traffic, improve safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, motorists, and commercial vehicle operators, and reduce serious injuries and fatal crashes. The scope includes Road Safety Audits for four corridors: E. Lincoln Avenue from S. Campbell Road to S. Stephenson Highway; Coolidge Highway from Webster Road to W. 14 Mile Road; N. Washington Avenue from W. 11 Mile Road to W. 12 Mile Road; and Normandy Road from Woodward Avenue to N. Main Street. Community engagement and transparency are critical components. Responses must include firm and team qualifications, relevant prior Comprehensive Safety Action Plans, subcontractor experience, and community-engagement experience. The projected budget is approximately $250,000, consisting of an anticipated $200,000 grant and a $50,000 city match; the city may proceed with or without federal funding.
