Description
The California Highway Patrol is soliciting bids for as-needed farrier services for six draft horses assigned to its Capitol Protection Section Mounted Patrol Unit. The contractor must provide all labor, transportation, equipment, tools, and supplies; perform trimming and shoeing; apply or reset shoes approximately every six weeks as needed; replace lost shoes; use Equithotic Sneakers, Remuda shoes, and other appropriate therapeutic shoes; and address the soundness and comfort of each horse. The contractor must respond to emergency hoof or shoe-related service requests within one hour and complete non-emergency requests within seven calendar days. The solicitation anticipates a single award to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, with a budgetary limit of $120,000, although payment will be based on actual services rendered and no quantity of work is guaranteed. Required qualifications include a valid city or county business license, at least 10 years of farrier experience, specified experience with draft and police draft horses, and at least three years of experience with Equithotic Sneakers.
