Description
The Commonwealth of Kentucky Division of Abandoned Mine Lands is soliciting a contractor for an exploratory pit and exploratory drilling project in Muhlenberg County. The work will verify the No. 9 coal seam and the locations of underground rooms and pillars, while agency personnel use a downhole camera to assess mine conditions and rock and shale fracturing associated with mine subsidence. The contractor must drill holes of at least six inches in diameter to the No. 9 coal seam, case holes through the soil into competent rock with six-inch PVC pipe, provide approximately 400 gallons of water per hole using a 400–500-gallon water buffalo, and manage drill cuttings with a box utility trailer and non-woven polyethylene geotextile sediment filter bags or an equivalent system. The contractor is responsible for methane monitoring and must secure any affected area, including plugging holes or installing three-inch PVC casing when methane is encountered. The bid must be submitted electronically, with the Official Bid Document and any required Bid Bond combined into one PDF attachment.
