Description
Daviess County Public Schools is soliciting proposals from local growers and farmers to supply locally-grown fresh fruits and vegetables for use in the National School Lunch Program. The produce must be grown within a 50-mile radius of Daviess County, Kentucky, which may include southern Indiana. Items requested include apples, peaches, watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, grapes, cucumbers, corn, green and red bell peppers, summer squash, zucchini, cabbage, broccoli, cherry/grape tomatoes, ripe tomatoes, spinach, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash. Deliveries will be made to individual school sites, with all costs for delivery and packaging borne by the bidder. Bidders must comply with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and provide documentation of training, as well as a farm plan including a list of chemicals used. Products must be traceable and marked with farm name, product name, date picked, and pack size. Contracts may be awarded to one or more responsible bidders based on lowest price, with extra consideration for KY Proud registered farms. The district reserves the right to make partial, multiple, and progressive awards.
