Description
The City of Aurora is soliciting bids from prime contractors for the full replacement of lead water service lines from water mains to water meters. The work includes trenchless or open-cut copper service installation, water-main taps and corporation stops, curb stops and boxes, interior connections to residential and commercial meters, sanitary-service coordination and repairs, abandoned-service removal, and related plumbing work. The scope also includes mobilization, excavation, trench backfill, traffic control, temporary and permanent pavement restoration, driveway, curb, sidewalk, detectable-warning, drainage-tile, erosion-control, and grass restoration. Contractors must meet Illinois Department of Transportation prequalification requirements, provide experience with at least 100 comparable service replacements, submit three municipal recommendation letters for similar trenchless projects, use a state-licensed plumber when required, comply with prevailing-wage and apprenticeship requirements, and provide the required insurance and vendor submissions. The contract has an initial two-year term ending December 31, 2028, with up to one additional one-year term by mutual written agreement.
