Description

The City of Bakersfield Recreation and Parks Department is soliciting qualifications and proposals from manufacturers and vendors to provide playground equipment, outdoor fitness equipment, site accessories, surfacing materials, related recreational products, and associated services. The scope includes product supply, design, engineering, layout, project management, installation, repair, maintenance, removal, disposal, inspections, and customer support for projects at the City's parks. Products must comply with applicable ADA, ASTM, Consumer Product Safety Commission, IPEMA, and California requirements. Manufacturers must be IPEMA members and ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified, and equipment must be IPEMA certified. Installation must be performed by certified installers, including a Certified Playground Safety Inspector, and the proposer must hold a minimum Class B California contractor license. The awarded company must act as prime contractor and remain responsible for subcontractor performance. The solicitation requests pricing based on discounts from verifiable published price lists, defined installation and shipping programs, volume discounts and rebates, warranty information, product literature, and three sample playground, picnic shelter, and fitness-area designs with renderings, layouts, component details, itemized pricing, and installation costs. The contract term is two years, with three consecutive one-year renewal options at the City's discretion. Performance and payment bonds, each equal to 100% of the contract amount, are required from the successful company, and insurance requirements apply at contract execution. Proposals must include at least four similar customer references and the required proposal forms and certifications.
