Description
Kern County is soliciting sealed bids for construction work at various highway locations, including hot-mix asphalt paving, asphalt cold planing, asphalt dikes, removal of existing guardrails, markers, and slope paving, and installation of Midwest guardrail systems, multiple end-terminal systems, Type 60M concrete barriers, crash cushions, flume downdrains, rumble strips, curbs, gutters, and concrete slope paving. The bid schedule includes traffic control, water-pollution-control planning, roadway excavation, aggregate base, thermoplastic striping, and mobilization. The engineer's estimate is $1,241,866, and the work must be completed within 50 working days. Working days begin March 15, 2027, with construction activity generally limited to 7:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. on working days. The contractor must hold an A or C-13 California contractor license, be registered for public works, provide a 10% bid security, and the successful bidder must provide 100% performance and payment bonds. The bid package also requires specified bidding forms, subcontractor information, certifications, a bidders list, and an off-road diesel-fueled vehicle list.
