Ashland School District (ASD) is applying for a Student Investment Account (SIA) grant from the Oregon Department of Education. The district serves approximately 3,000 students across Ashland High School, Ashland Middle School, three elementary schools (Bellview, Helman, Walker), John Muir K-8, and Willow Wind Community Learning Center. The grant aims to address students' mental and behavioral health needs and reduce disparities in academic achievement. Key strategies include: hiring two full-time mental health therapists for grades 6-12, reducing K-3 class sizes by adding 3.6 certified FTE, implementing a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) district-wide, increasing teacher collaboration time, and providing culturally responsive professional development. The district also plans to hire specialists in arts, PE, math, and reading to support collaboration, add child development specialists, and expand support for English language learners. The total budget is approximately $2.29 million, with a 4% administrative cost allowance.
