Description
Military Sealift Command (MSC) requires services for the overhaul, preservation, and storage of MTU Main Propulsion Diesel Engine power units. These units will be removed from the ex-SPEARHEAD and ex-FALL RIVER vessels. The work involves the complete overhaul of these power units at an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) authorized facility. The solicitation is anticipated to be issued around July 10, 2026. The scope of work includes the removal of eighty (80) power units from each vessel, totaling 160 units. The removal process will occur at the Beaumont Reserve Fleet in Beaumont, TX, with the subsequent overhaul performed at an MTU facility. The contractor will be responsible for furnishing labor, tools, and consumable materials, while MSC will provide transportation cases. Specific tasks include preparing the removed power packs for use as rotatable spares, cleaning and polishing units with low hours, and cleaning and overhauling units from the ex-Fall River to return them to service. Preservation for long-term storage is also required upon completion.
