Description
The City of Garland, Texas, through its GP&L utility, is soliciting bids for the fabrication and hot-dip galvanizing of one (1) Mobile Distribution Breaker Unit (MDBU). The unit is a transportable steel skid assembly designed for temporary and emergency deployment in distribution system operations, including breaker replacement, substation bypass, and mobile feeder service. The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, and equipment to fabricate the structural assembly in accordance with the owner-supplied drawings and specifications. The work includes welding per AWS D1.1, fabrication of mounting surfaces, brackets, lifting provisions, grounding pads, guy attachment points, and tubing closure covers. The completed assembly must be fully fabricated, galvanized per ASTM A123, and ready to receive owner-furnished electrical equipment (breakers, switches, transformers, etc.) by September 1, 2026. The contractor is not responsible for installing or wiring any electrical equipment. The unit is to be constructed in two transportable sections (lower and upper assemblies) with bolted field connections. All structural steel, fasteners, and welding must meet specified ASTM and AISC standards. The contractor must provide a not-to-exceed fixed price and comply with all City of Garland terms and conditions.
