Description
The Wakefield-Marenisco School District is soliciting bids for emergency masonry restoration work, specifically focusing on parapet wall repairs at Wakefield-Marenisco High School. The scope of work includes dismantling the existing parapet down to the stone cornice/watertable, salvaging and cleaning reusable bricks, preparing the substrate, installing new through-wall flashing with proper laps and drainage, reconstructing the parapet to match the existing height, bond, and appearance, tooling mortar joints, removing and replacing sealant at stone cornice joints, and installing backer rod and elastomeric sealant for watertight performance. The project manual details specific requirements for Division 04 - Masonry and Division 07 - Thermal & Moisture Protection, emphasizing the need for an experienced masonry restoration contractor familiar with historic construction methods and materials. Bidders must provide five past projects of similar work, adhere to OSHA safety standards, and obtain all required permits. Work is preferred for the summer of 2026, but summer of 2027 is also an option.
