Description
The Hubbard Free Library in Hallowell is soliciting proposals from qualified historic masonry contractors for critical repair work on its granite exterior and chimney. The scope of work includes repointing open masonry joints on the granite exterior, installing lead weather caps at all skyward-facing joints, repointing the chimney (base, exposed interior, and top course), and cleaning the granite exterior masonry and chimney. All work must adhere to the Secretary of the Interior's Standards and applicable NPS Preservation Briefs. This project is partially funded by a Historic Community Buildings Grant administered by the Maine Historic Preservation Commission. Work is anticipated to commence in September 2026 and must be completed no later than July 31, 2027. Proposals must be received by 5:00 PM on July 20, 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted.
