Description
The City of New Bern is soliciting sealed unit-price bids for construction of approximately 1,025 linear feet of 6-inch PVC water main, 2,300 linear feet of 2-inch PVC water main, removal and replacement of approximately 1,477 linear feet of 8-inch sanitary sewer main, installation or replacement of sanitary sewer manholes, water and sewer service reconnections, hydrant and valve work, sewer connections and abandonments, and related utility improvements. The bid schedule also includes ductile iron pipe, pavement removal and disposal, aggregate sub-base, seeding and mulching, testing, storm drainage work, traffic control, and erosion-control-related obligations. The work is subject to a mandatory bid security requirement equal to 5 percent of the bidder’s maximum bid price, submitted as cash, certified or cashier’s check, or bid bond. The successful bidder must furnish performance and payment bonds, each in an amount at least equal to the contract price, along with required insurance documentation. The contract provides 120 days for substantial completion and 120 days for completion and readiness for final payment, measured from commencement of the contract times. Bidders must use the provided bid forms and include the required bid security and E-Verify affidavit.
