INVITATION TO BID Town of Bethel County of Fairfield State of Connecticut Request for Qualifications/Request for Proposals Bid # 2027-001: Sand Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received at the Office of the Purchasing Agent, Clifford J. Prospective bidders shall examine the bid package and shall comply and conform strictly with the conditions and instructions contained therein. Specifications and related documents may be obtained at the Office of the Purchasing Agent, Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center, 1 School Street, Bethel, Connecticut 06801. Phone: 203-794-8514. Description
The Town of Bethel is soliciting bids for approximately 4,000 to 6,000 cubic yards of dry screened sand for road de-icing. The sand must consist of hard, strong, sharp, durable grains; be free of clay, silt, shale, lumps, soft or flaky particles, frozen material, and limestone; meet specified sieve gradation requirements; and have moisture content not exceeding 2.5%. Materials that fail testing or specifications must be removed and replaced at the contractor’s expense. The contract begins on the bid award date and continues through April 15, 2027. Regular deliveries must be made on weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; emergency deliveries may be required seven days per week from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The supplier must provide requested material within five working days, deliver at least 120 tons per day, provide third-party-certified weight tickets with each load, and make a product sample available for pre-award inspection. Bidders must complete and submit the Purchasing Proposal and Acceptance of Specifications Form. Insurance requirements apply during contract performance, but the certificate of insurance is due after award and is not part of the bid submission.
