Description
The City of Newport Beach is soliciting bids for a public-works beach sand replenishment project. The contractor must mobilize equipment and personnel; provide traffic control, construction notices, and best management practices; load sand from a stockpile at the mouth of the Lower Santa Ana River; transport it; and unload, place, and grade up to 50,000 cubic yards of sand at beach locations between 36th Street and 50th Street. Two additive bid items each provide for an additional 25,000 cubic yards. The work also includes as-built plans, haul-route coordination, environmental and stormwater controls, public access, and related site restoration and safety measures. The estimated bid value is $2,000,000, and the project duration is 45 consecutive working days after issuance of the Notice to Proceed. Bidders must hold a California Class A General Engineering license, be registered with the California Department of Industrial Relations, and demonstrate at least five similar public-agency beach sand projects valued over $750,000, totaling at least 100,000 cubic yards in beach or tidal environments. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is required, and the bid must include a 10% bidder's bond; payment and performance bonds of 100% are required after award.
