Description

The City of Newport News is soliciting construction bids to restore and maintain the existing Seafood Industrial Park Outer Harbor pier and mooring and breasting dolphins. The work includes replacing deteriorated timber pier fender piles and dolphin piles; repairing timber wales, chocks, fascia boards, rubber fenders, and galvanized wire wraps; repairing concrete deck slabs, bent caps, curbs, and concrete piles; repairing a steel pipe king pile; and restoring power to a 110-volt receptacle and related electrical utilities. The base bid includes 110 timber pile replacements, with an additive bid for 34 additional timber pile repairs. The project also includes mobilization, demolition, debris disposal, permits, environmental compliance, construction surveying, as-built drawings, traffic and marine coordination, and compliance with the project drawings, specifications, environmental permits, and Newport News and Hampton Roads regional construction standards. The contractor must provide a 5% bid security, 100% performance and payment bonds, and complete the required vendor questionnaire and bid submittals. The stated schedule is 270 days for substantial completion and an additional 30 days for final completion, with liquidated damages of $1,250 per day for delayed substantial completion and $625 per day for delayed final completion.
