The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District is conducting a sources sought for maintenance dredging utilizing a hopper dredge to clear historical shoaling within the Galveston Entrance Channel, the adjoining Houston Ship Channel (Bolivar to Redfish Reach), and Galveston Harbor. The scope includes additional advanced maintenance dredging in a high-shoaling zone of the Entrance Channel and incorporates a newly added wedge in Galveston Harbor. Standard disposal is at the Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site (ODMDS). Options may include dredging of Galveston Harbor Shelves and beneficial use of dredged material for beach placement, with costs exceeding standard disposal covered by non-federal funds. The estimated contract value is between $25 million and $100 million.
