Description
The City of Camden is accepting applications for its Facade Grant Program, which provides a reimbursable matching grant of up to $10,000 to help offset the cost of exterior improvements to commercial or mixed-use buildings in the historic downtown and Dusty Bend districts. Eligible applicants include owners of commercial or mixed-use buildings, or tenants leasing space in a commercial building with written authorization from the building owner. Eligible expenditures include facade improvements, brick or wall surface cleaning, patching and painting of facade walls, signage or exterior lighting replacement/repair, canopy/porch/awning installation/repair, window and/or door replacement/repair, mortar joint repair, railings/ironwork repair or addition, and cornice repair/replacement. Ineligible expenditures include professional fees, interior improvements, electrical/plumbing/mechanical/security/telecommunications work, ordinary maintenance, work required due to code violations, work by unlicensed contractors, work without permits, and work completed prior to grant approval. Applications are accepted starting August 3 and must be submitted by October 31 at 12 pm. Projects must be completed by May 31. Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis as funds are available.
