Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs is soliciting proposals from Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business concerns for construction work correcting fire and life-safety deficiencies at various occupied Hampton VA Medical Center buildings, including buildings on and off campus. The contractor must provide labor, materials, transportation, equipment, supervision, professional services, permitting, demolition, construction management, submittals, scheduling, inspection and testing, environmental protection, as-built drawings, and project closeout. The scope includes new handrails, fire-egress stairs, exterior stair coverings, guardrails, stairwells, sidewalks, doors, fire extinguishers, wet- and dry-pipe sprinkler modifications, fire alarm systems, electrical work, firestopping, wall modifications, utility relocation, masonry, finishes, paving, and related site work. Work will occur in an occupied healthcare environment requiring infection-control measures, phased coordination to maintain continuous medical-center operations, lead-based paint controls, safety and quality-control plans, and extensive testing, documentation, and warranty support. The estimated construction magnitude is $2,000,000 to $7,000,000.
