Description
The City of Columbia is soliciting bids for repair of the Columbia Canal embankment at Site 4, spanning approximately 3.1 miles from the headgates to the hydroelectric plant. Work includes toe and slope repairs with riprap and geotextile installation, dredging and debris removal, turf reinforcement matting, erosion control blankets, complete removal and replacement of the canal dike, temporary cofferdam and dewatering facilities, a soil-bentonite slurry cutoff wall, and reshaping of the canal channel. The project also includes archaeological monitoring, salvage, and other cultural resource responsibilities, with additive alternates for project delays and additional grouting. The opportunity is issued as an Invitation for Bids and is funded with federal FEMA funds, requiring compliance with applicable environmental and historic-preservation conditions. Addendum 3 addresses bidder questions concerning riprap quantities, bentonite slurry specifications, mussel sweeping, utilities, cofferdam design flow, fill-source clearance, and cultural-resource requirements.
