Description
This solicitation is for the restoration of two static display aircraft, a B-17 and an SR-71, located at the U.S. Air Force Armament Museum at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. The contractor will be responsible for providing all necessary labor, materials, and equipment to perform these restoration services in accordance with the provided Statement of Work (SOW). The scope of work includes addressing external and internal corrosion, performing sheet metal repairs on damaged areas, cleaning the aircraft, and applying corrosion treatment and final chemical coating to protect the aircraft. The contractor will also be responsible for reassembling components, applying touch-up maintenance with color-matched high-gloss polyurethane paint, and ensuring the aircraft presents a museum-quality appearance. Specific tasks include scuff-sanding, primer application, and painting according to original color schemes and markings. The contractor must also ensure landing gear tires are in good condition, remove bird and insect nests, clear drain holes, and bird-proof various openings. All work must be performed in accordance with applicable technical orders and museum standards. The contractor is responsible for all materials, specialized tools, and qualified labor. The government will provide paint schemes, markings, and paint types by military specification. The contractor must also adhere to strict safety, environmental compliance, and housekeeping standards throughout the project.
